Hello everyone~! How were your Christmas and vocation so far! I truly hope everyone had been soaking up the Christmas festivity vibes and enjoying the lack of things on the to-do list. If you’re an adult, I hope you’ve enjoyed your time off work, if you’re a student (like me), I hope you’ve been enjoying your break after you’ve received your quite…disastrous exam scores *sad laugh*.
Okay, I had been getting “back” (kind of) to blogging for a while now. If you look at my posting history, you’ll notice that I had been scheduling to post for weeks now. Thank god I had read a lot of books during my “book hype” phase, so I had a lot of books for review, designed specifically for periods of book slumps when I’m not reading so I can still post at least once in a while.
But I guess it can be argued that I’m still “slacking”. I’ve been letting myself lose with the weekly recaps and monthly recaps, and I can’t remember the last time I actually replied to a book review request (I am so sorry about that by the way, I swear I am getting to it).
This week during my Christmas break, I went to a hospital to help out. I won’t disclose the name and didn’t take any pictures due to obvious privacy concerns for the patients and the hospital.
It was a pretty good experience. Even know I didn’t get to see, experience, or learn as much as I would’ve liked, I still get to see things I normally wouldn’t get to see. I saw many patients and listened to their stories, and as a volunteer, I was able to get the experience of working as a staff at a hospital and experience what that would be like.
There are some things that are good with my reading slump though. For example, it managed to get me to completely forget (and almost don’t care) about some of the most anticipated sequels for me. I was dying – physically suffering from having to wait for the release of The Wicked King by Holly Black. I don’t want to talk too much about this either because…well, again, I don’t want to remind myself constantly about it until it’s released (to ease my suffering).
