K.N. Smith’s Discovery of the Five Senses is a young adult paranormal action adventure book situated in the idyllic hamlet of Danville Heights. Jordan, Rhee, Kinsu, Chase, Alex, and their friend Jordan discover a secret energy in a forbidden preserve that gives them enhanced senses including sight, hearing, touch, taste, and smell.
They set out on a mission to battle evil in the nearby hamlet of Sandry Lake as they adjust to their newfound powers. The boys must use their abilities in a race against time to save humanity as they take on the evil Druth with the help of light creatures and mysterious strangers. With themes of choice, friendship, and the conflict between good and evil, Discovery of the Five Senses is an engrossing story that will appeal to readers of all ages.
This book gave me the much-needed break from my usual reading schedule. As I lost myself in a story that seemed like a breath of fresh air, I was drawn into the world of young adult fiction with superhero undertones. The novel’s examination of superpowers involving the heightened senses gave the narrative a fascinating new angle on well-known subjects. The characters set out on an exciting journey against a backdrop of mystery and adventure that had me captivated from beginning to end. This book’s uniqueness and inventiveness were a joyful discovery in a market overflowing with predictable stories; it rekindled my passion for immersive storytelling.

The more I read the more I was captivated, since many of them reflected my own problems and experiences during that critical time in my adolescence. With its nostalgic perspective, Discovery of the Five Senses unexpectedly got me to face the core of my current self and took me back to the hardships of youth, providing a moving reminder of the process that moulds us into the people we are now.
In addition, each character has a unique identities that made them stand out in their own way.
