The Fine Print by Lauren Asher
I’m in the business of creating fairy tales.
Theme parks. Production companies. Five-star hotels.
Everything could be all mine if I renovated Dreamland.
My initial idea of hiring Zahra was good in theory, but then I kissed her.
Things spiralled out of control once I texted her using an alias.
By the time I realized where I went wrong, it was too late.
People like me don’t get happy endings.
Not when we’re destined to ruin them.
After submitting a drunk proposal criticizing Dreamland’s most expensive ride, I should have been fired.
Instead, Rowan Kane offered me a dream job.
The catch? I had to work for the most difficult boss I’d ever met.
Rowan was rude and completely off-limits, but my heart didn’t care.
At least not until I discovered his secret.
It was time to teach the billionaire that money couldn’t fix everything.
Especially not us.
A typical billionaire romance that is quite popular. It’s one of the more famous ones of the genre, especially on Kindle Unlimited.
Run Posy Run by Cate C. Wells
She’d better run…
Posy
When I fell for Dario Volpe, I thought he was Prince Charming, and I was the luckiest girl alive. He didn’t care about my past. The talk. The stain on my family’s reputation.
Then he saw something I never wanted anyone to see.
He cares now.
This isn’t a breakup, it’s a warning shot, and if I want to get out of this bad romance alive, I have to run and never look back.
Dario Volpe is no storybook hero. He’s a psychopath, and he can’t decide–kiss me? Or kill me?
Dario
I’m the man behind the curtain, the power behind the throne. I could have killed her, and no one would have blinked an eye. Posy Santoro isn’t exactly a mafia princess.
No one sees her as clearly as I can–the perfect mind hidden by that knockout body in the tight dress.
I made a mistake, running her off, but now I get to play one of my favorite games.
Posy can run, but she isn’t made to be free. She’s made for me. And when I catch her? Game over.
Run Posy Run is a standalone mafia romance with dark elements. Intended for adult readers.
HEA guaranteed.
This is a book with the cat-and-mouse trope, and one thing I really liked about this book is it has a very smart and capable heroine! Recommend for readers who are interested in more mafia/crime.
Seven Sins of Snow by Loxley Savage
Hey, you!
Yeah, you.
Are you listening?
I have a story to share, but it’s not your average fairy tale.
My story?
It’s wrought with violence.
Strewn with blood.
Dominated by desire.
My stepmother, the evil queen, hates me. She wants me dead but hasn’t killed me yet. At her insistence, a never-ending line of repugnant suitors vie for my hand, but when I decline each and every one, the evil queen punishes me…severely.
She will stop at nothing until I’m sold or dead.
As she grows insane with power and my death appears imminent, something unexpected happens.
I see lurkers. They come to me in my dreams, touch me, taste me. Even though I’ve never met them outside of my mind, I begin to crave them.
Stories have been passed down in the town of Riverwood about creatures of legend, kings given the power to wield the seven deadly sins.
They tell me they want me, they claim I belong to them.
As I fall deeper into sin, they become mine just as much as I am theirs.
What will happen if I submit to their desires? Will I morph into the very weapon I seek, harnessing their power for my own? Or will I find myself lost in their seduction?
The evil queen might kill me first. But I’ve made a vow to my people to take back my stolen throne while bathing in her blood.
Read my story and find out what happens…if you dare.
Oh yeah this book is pretty wild. It’s a reverse harem snow white light retelling. Check it out if it sounds like something up your valley.
The Sweetest Oblivion by Danielle Lori
She’s a romantic at heart, living in the most unromantic of worlds . . .
Nicknamed Sweet Abelli for her docile nature, Elena smiles on cue and has a charming response for everything. She’s the favored daughter, the perfect mafia principessa . . . or was. Now, all she can see in the mirror’s reflection is blood staining her hands like crimson paint.
They say first impressions are everything . . .
In the murky waters of New York’s underworld, Elena’s sister is arranged to marry Nicolas Russo. A made man, a boss, a cheat—even measured against mafia standards. His reputation stretches far and wide and is darker than his black suits and ties.
After his and Elena’s first encounter ends with an accidental glare on her part, she realizes he’s just as rude as he is handsome. She doesn’t like the man or anything he stands for, though that doesn’t stop her heart from pattering like rain against glass when he’s near, nor the shiver that ghosts down her spine at the sound of his voice.
And he’s always near.
Telling her what to do.
Making her feel hotter than any future brother-in-law should.
Elena may be the Sweet Abelli on the outside, but she’s beginning to learn she has a taste for the darkness, for rough hands, cigarettes, and whiskey-colored eyes.
Having already escaped one scandal, however, she can hardly afford to be swept up in another. Besides, even if he were hers, everyone knows you don’t fall in love with a Made Man . . . right?
This is a standalone forbidden romance (with plenty of steam and angst.)
This book is one of the most popular contemporary crime intimacy books in the romance community and is very commonly recommended on BookTok. The book has an amazing enemies-to-lovers angst romance, and that really added to the enjoyment and quality of the intimacy.
The Hunter by L.J. Shen
Boston’s debauched elite is going up in flames, and it’s the Fitzpatrick family that set it on fire.
Hunter
I didn’t mean to star in a s*x tape, okay?
It was just one of those unexplainable things. Like Stonehenge, Police Academy 2, and morning glory clouds.
It just happened.
Now, my ball-busting father is sentencing me to six months of celibacy, sobriety, and morbid boredom under the roof of Boston’s nerdiest girl alive, Sailor Brennan.
The virginal archer is supposed to babysit my ass while I learn to take my place in Royal Pipelines, my family’s oil company.
Little does she know, that’s not the only pipe I’ll be laying…
Sailor
I didn’t want this gig, okay?
But the deal was too sweet to walk away from.
I needed the public endorsement; Hunter needed a nanny.
Besides, what’s six months in the grand scheme of things?
It’s not like I’m in danger of falling in love with the appallingly gorgeous, charismatic gazillionaire who happens to be one of Boston’s most eligible bachelors.
No. I will remain immune to Hunter Fitzpatrick’s charm.
Even at the cost of losing everything I have.
Even at the cost of burning down his kingdom.
Honestly a really digestable read if you are craving books like this.
Captive of the Horde King by Zoey Draven
She made a deal with the Dakkari devil. Now, he owns her.
On the unforgiving planet of Dakkar, I did what all the humans in our village did: kept my head down, worked to provide for my family, and I certainly didn’t break any Dakkari laws to risk inciting the alien race’s merciless wrath.
Unfortunately, the same couldn’t be said for my brother and one careless mistake brings a horde of the nomadic, barbarian Dakkari straight to our doorstep, led by their powerful horde king—a cold, ruthless, battle-scarred warrior demanding retribution.
In order to save my brother’s life, I do the unthinkable.
I sell myself to the horde king as his war prize. I agree to warm his furs, to travel with his horde across the wild lands of Dakkar, and to never see my family again.
But as I struggle with my new reality, I discover that the surly, mysterious, dominant horde king never intended for me to be his concubine…
He wants me as his queen.
Now this book definitely is on the light end of the heater meter, but the premise and romance are so good it makes up for it! If you are excited about some tail action (I hope my mom never sees this), sci-fi alien muscle rulers, and more, you would definitely want to read this book! And it’s especially recommended if you are already a fan of Ruby Dixon’s alien books.
Corrupt by Penelope Douglas
Erika
I was told that dreams were our heart’s desires. My nightmares, however, became my obsession.
His name is Michael Crist. My boyfriend’s older brother is like that scary movie that you peek through your hand to watch. He’s handsome, strong, and completely terrifying. The star of his college’s basketball team and now gone pro, he’s more concerned with the dirt on his shoe than me.
But I noticed him.
I saw him. I heard him. The things that he did, and the deeds that he hid…
For years, I bit my nails, unable to look away. Now, I’ve graduated high school and moved on to college, but I haven’t stopped watching Michael.
He’s bad, and the dirt I’ve seen isn’t content to stay in my head anymore.
Because he’s finally noticed me.
Michael
Her name is Erika Fane, but everyone calls her Rika.
My brother’s girlfriend grew up hanging around my house and is always at our dinner table. She looks down when I enter a room and stills when I am close. I can always feel the fear rolling off of her, and while I haven’t had her body, I know that I have her mind. That’s all I really want anyway.
Until my brother leaves for the military, and I find Rika alone at college. In my city. Unprotected.
The opportunity is too good to be true, as well as the timing.
Because you see, three years ago she put a few of my high school friends in prison, and now they’re out.
We’ve waited. We’ve been patient. And now every last one of her nightmares will come true.
Uh Penelope Douglass’s books definitely have problems, including problematic taboos to risky dynamics. But one thing that is undeniable is that no matter what, the quality of the intimacy is always consistent. So if you don’t mind the toxic relationships and weird couple combos that sometimes occur, you can give it a try. Notably, though people defending her books have claimed these taboo and toxic aspects make the intimacy even more exciting, and are her “secret sauce”. You can make the judgements yourself. This same commentary applies to another one of her books below (cue the romance between the dad’s friend and the dad’s daughter).
The Risk by S.T. Abby
The premise is quite interesting. This book was also recommended to me by communities online for the ruthless heroine. Check it out!
Twisted Love by Ana Huang
An enemies to loves slow-burn brother’s best friend/grumpy sunshine romance. Recommend if you are into womanizer possessive hot young billionaire Russian man driven for revenge until our dear sunshine heroine melts his cold ice heart.
Choosing Theo by Victoria Aveline
Alien kidnapping to a matriarchal alien society. Man is a guy who nobody wants (the book will explain why). This trope was new to me but I unexpectedly enjoyed it a lot!
