SYNOPSIS (FROM GOODREADS):

Remember How It Feels to Fall in Love?

Race against the clock through a dystopian nightmare. Climb naked into an untested time machine (carrying only a seashell and a promise). Wake up twenty years younger on a tropical beach, buck naked and mortally wounded, with your heart in your throat.

This is a journey of love, loss, and redemption that will make your pulse gallop and your palms sweat, have you laughing out loud through your tears, and leave you flush with the sublime pleasure of falling in love.

MY THOUGHTS:

I received a free copy for an honest review

This book is perfect for both Science Fiction Time Traveling fans and romance lovers like me. Also, for romance readers who have been stuck in the same genre for some time and wants to find the inspiration of trying a new genre, this book is just right for you(since I think I’ll be reading a whole lot more Science Fiction after this). And to readers who enjoyed When you Reach Me by Rebecca Stead, you’ll for sure enjoy this book as well.

Even though this is not a horror book, I still experienced an unhealthy amount of panic and fear when reading this book. And it can be said that it’s expected since this is a Science Fiction book taking place in real life modern disasters that involve a time machine. What made this book so scary for me is that it’s all actually possible. It can all actually happen. The situation prescribed in the book can be exactly what would happen if nuclear bomb wars go off between countries, and it gave us a good look at how our lives would be ruined by war and our very own technologies.

And another thing I enjoyed about this book is its complicating story and mystery. I love going along with Matt while we try to figure out the time machine along with the Einstein formula, sock, and shell, while still enjoying the romance between Isabel and Deigo while the world starts to crumble around them.

The book itself is pretty faced paced, and I felt that through how immediately in the first chapter we were introduced to the beginning of disaster. But since the book is very well written together, I didn’t feel overwhelmed and was able to keep up with the plot.

I also really love the protagonists, Isabel and Deigo. Both had their own unique qualities, and both are strong and independent. Isabel didn’t seem to me as a weak female protagonist who always needs a prince charming to save her, which really appealed to me in a feminist way. Deigo can be really sweet, which really help the readers to feel the chemistry between the two characters.

Either way, this book was amazing, and it reminded me what I had been missing in Science Fiction. I suggest this book to everyone, especially those who can’t read a book without romance – you do not need to be afraid that this book would disappoint. In fact, the story is so strong that even without the main romance plot-line, it can stand on its own because it is really interesting. 5 stars. Definitely.
