Interview With Blog LIVELAUGHBLOG

Bio:

I’m a Canadian twentysomething girl and I started livelaughbox in December 2016. I have my Hon. BA in Social Psychology and my PGD in Human Resources Management, so I understand and know the minds of human beings quite well.

I grew up never really having a hobby to call my own, and I jumped into getting my education so fast and then looking for a job without ever really taking a minute to think about what I wanted. I got invited to start a network marketing business that I loved the concept of, but I was awful at selling products and realized it wasn’t really my thing. I’ve always been good at customer service and have always had a passion for all things organic, but I didn’t know what to do with any of these ideas.

I discovered the world of subscription boxes when I was scrolling through my phone one night after work, and saw a food subscription box that I thought was really cool. After days of research, I purchased my first box and then became addicted; 9 boxes (and a skinny wallet) later I decided it made sense to blog about my experiences with my boxes. I began to follow some amazing bloggers and do research on blogging, and a lightbulb went off. Why haven’t I been doing this all along? I could write a pretty good essay in university and I loved talking about products that I used on a daily basis; thus livelaughbox was born.

After a couple of months, I decided that I wanted to branch out and blog about a wide range of lifestyle topics, so livelaughbox become livelaughBLOG!

I want people to know about the best natural products that are out there, whether its for yourself, your family, your new born baby, who ever it is! I want to spread the love through health and wellness while supporting small businesses in the process. Most importantly, I LOVE what I do, what I write about, and of course the amazing feeling I get when someone likes or appreciates something I posted.

When was this blog first made?

I created my blog in December 2016.

What inspired this blog to be created?

Funny story! I was settling into a new role after about 3 months of working and although I really enjoyed it, I wanted to do something ‘on the side’ but I wasn’t really sure how to go about it. One day after work, I was scrolling through Instagram and I came across a food subscription box that I thought was really cool. I didn’t know anything about subscription boxes and I became intrigued in an instant, and spent the rest of the night discovering the millions of boxes that exist out there. The next couple of days I spent forming ideas and wondering what I could do with this new knowledge, so I decided to start livelaughbox (later livelaughblog). I first made my Instagram account and I stayed up all night, SO excited about my increasing number of followers. Work was tough the next day!

What this blog mainly about?

It started as a blog about subscription boxes from local/small businesses. My main goal was to support small businesses that needed the support, and to talk about their products to showcase the difference between locally made and store-bought. I especially focused on organic and natural products, trying out many products that suited a healthier and more natural lifestyle.

Have you written for any other websites or offline publications?

I have not. My goal isn’t to get a career out of my blogging, but rather to help others and to show the world the difference that healthy products can make. As much as I would love to write for another website, I like going at my pace and I appreciate my current audience for sure.

How does your blog want to influence the world with their contents?

My blog is meant to support people and small businesses. I want people to see the value in helping to support a family rather than a CEO on his vacation yacht. I also want to spread the word about the difference good ingredients can do for your skin, body and overall health.

What kind of obstacle or problems had you been through with this blog?

As with anything, there will always be some sort of obstacle or problem to overcome. My first obstacles involved gaining an audience. I did a lot of networking and social media work to help get my blog out there and it has been slowly increasing. My Twitter and Instagram followings combined is about 5,000, which is good for me right now but of course I would love to increase that number. I also changed the name a few months into my blogging. It used to be called livelaughbox but my boyfriend pointed out that I don’t just review subscription boxes, I review many kinds of products, thus it became livelaughblog. I would say the general obstacle that I have is continually gaining an audience. You have to produce work that people are genuinely interested in and want to read about, and that can be tough.

How does this site communicate with their followers?

I post at least 3 times a day on social media and I try to do at least 3-4 blog posts a week. I always ask followers for their opinion and I give links and tons of information to followers about the products I review. I have done many different contests that I run with various companies which allows followers a chance to win an item or a subscription box.

What tips would this site give to future/young bloggers?

Definitely just to go in with full force, and just to be yourself. Not everyone will agree or is going to like what you write, but that’s their problem, not yours. Write what inspires you and never let blogging become work. I would also advise to educate yourself on writing, blogging, and even the demographics of your audience so that you can find more ways to relate to your readers.
